Plains Zebra
Equus quagga burchellii, Burchell's (Damara or Zululand) Zebra or Bontequagga. Also as Equus burchellii burchellii. They seem to have some genes of the extinct Quagga; note the brown stripes on a brown background on rumps and absence of "shadow" stripes on two animals in foreground, and reduced stripes on rump and legs of the one at right. Also as Common Zebra.

S and E Angola, N and E Botswana, SE Dem. Rep. Congo, Kenya, N Namibia, SE Sudan, SW Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, S Somalia, South Africa (N KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga Provs.; formerly more widespread, S to cape), Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
