WHEREAS, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources at the Tenth General Assembly in New Delhi, India, 1 December 1969, adopted a number of resolutions for the purpose of conserving mammalian species endangered with extinction, and
WHEREAS, a concerted support of conservation of endangered species is desirable, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Mammalogists represents the largest body of expert scientists in the field of mammalogy in the world today,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists commends the IUCN for its general activities, and supports in particular, the following actions of the Tenth General Assembly of IUCN*:

10. Amazonian wild animal trade
13. Orang-utans
14. The Asiatic lion
15. The tiger
16. Smaller felid species
