Please join us 14 to 20 July 2023 for the 13th International Mammalogical Congress (IMC-13). The IMC-13 meeting is hosted by the American Society of Mammalogists (ASM) - who will be celebrating their 102nd annual meeting. The conference will be held in person at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska, USA and will also include a virtual option for remote attendees.

From the serene waters of Cook Inlet to the exceptional natural wonders of the Chugach, Anchorage encompasses incredible adventures and metropolitan appeals that are larger than life. With 1,500 moose, incredible national parks nearby, and 60 glaciers only a short drive away, Anchorage is a dream destination. Come celebrate modern mammalogy, make new friends from throughout our international community, and enjoy the towering mountains, sparkling glaciers, and amazing wildlife that makes Alaska the Last Frontier.

The scientific program for IMC-13 will include plenary sessions, symposia, and workshops, as well as contributed oral and poster presentations. A capstone speaker will close out the scientific program. A full social agenda is also planned that will include field trips and evening events at local points of interest. Hotel blocks and dormitory housing are available for meeting attendees. REGISTER FOR THE CONFERENCE

Online registration is now open for the IMC-13 meeting! In-person and virtual conference attendees will use separate registration links when registering for the meeting. Regular registration ends March 15th! 

In-person registration will provide IMC-13 attendees full access to meeting content, including onsite and online contributed sessions. Register here to participate in-person at the IMC-13 meeting in Anchorage!

Virtual registration will provide IMC-13 attendees access to plenary and capstone sessions, select symposia, members meetings, and all online contributed oral and poster sessions through the conference meeting site. Register here to participate virtually in the IMC-13 meeting!

All IMC-13 attendees will have access to virtual conference content for 6 months following the meeting. Please also do not forget to purchase social tickets and other a la carte items during the registration process. Contact Christy Classi in the ASM Business Office for registration assistance.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION OPENS TODAY!!!

Share your research with hundreds of mammalogists from around the world. Submit your abstract for an in-person or virtual presentation for IMC-13! Abstract submission is open now and will close 15 March 2023. All plenary, capstone, and symposia speakers are required to submit an abstract by the posted deadlines

Technical and poster sessions will feature contributed in-person oral and traditional poster presentations, respectively. Technical sessions will include standard 15-minute presentations (12 minutes presentation + 3 minutes questions), and they will be organized by subdiscipline. In-person technical and poster sessions will NOT be live for virtual meeting attendees. Scheduling requests will NOT be granted for any presenter.

Virtual sessions will ALL be pre-recorded, and will be available asynchronously as on-demand sessions throughout the meeting. All IMC-13 virtual presentations will be recorded in the online meeting platform and available to meeting participants for six months following the conference. All virtual presenters will be contacted in May with detailed instructions about recording their presentation. All presenters must register and submit full payment for the conference prior to submitting their abstract. The payment confirmation email will include the abstract submission link. An abstract will not be accepted until the presenting author has registered and paid in full. It is recommended that registration and payment be completed in advance of the abstract submission deadline. Because of space limitations in the program, the IMC-13 Scientific Advisory Committee will NOT accept more than one abstract per presenting author regardless of format.

RESERVE YOUR ROOM AND MAKE TRAVEL PLANS FOR IMC-13

Travel: Serving two dozen national and international cities, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) connects Alaska with the world. Flights from Seattle and Salt Lake, Portland and Phoenix, Chicago and Minneapolis, make up some of the more than 240 daily flights arriving and departing daily from Alaska’s largest airport.

ANC is located just six miles from downtown Anchorage, about 15 minutes in a car, transportation from the airport is convenient by taxi, ride hailing service, hotel courtesy shuttles or People Mover bus. With on-site car rental facilities, a rail terminal for some cruise tour passengers, local shopping and restaurants, a surprising Alaska Native art collection, historic aircraft displays and a commanding view of the Chugach Mountains, the airport has moments as an attraction in its own right.

Carriers including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Ravn Alaska, Grant Aviation, JetBlue, PenAir, Sun Country, and United Airlines use the south terminal, with international flights from Condor, Icelandair, and Yakutia Airlines arriving in the north terminal all summer long. Keep in mind that some airlines offer promotional deals for flights to Alaska, which typically can only be found on individual airlines’ websites. Before you depart, make sure you are prepared for the REAL ID Act.

Lodging: Several hotel room blocks are available for the IMC-13 meeting at properties in downtown Anchorage. They include the following: Hilton Anchorage, Marriott Anchorage Downtown, and the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel & Spa.

Dormitory room blocks have been secured at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. Rates include continental breakfast each day. A shuttle will be provided to and from the university and downtown Anchorage for dorm guests.

CHILDCARE AVAILABLE FOR IMC-13!!!

We understand that attending a conference can be a tough decision for working parents. With that in mind, we are pleased to offer partially subsidized childcare at the IMC-13 meeting through Kiddie Corp!

Kiddie Corp will provide licensed childcare providers, and children will be cared for at designated space at the Dena’ina Convention Center. Example activities include Artist Alley, Adrenaline Rush, Peacefully Play Land, Construction Zone, and Tiny Tikes. Children ages 6 months to 12 years old are welcome!

To register your child(ren) for care, please do so at registration! Childcare rates are $50/child/day. A Kiddie Corp representative will confirm your child’s information prior to the meeting. Please visit the childcare options pagefor additional information!

WORKSHOP REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!!!

The IMC-13 scientific program features 14 workshops, covering topics ranging from data analyses to teaching to professional development. Two of our sponsors (Telenax and Wildlife Acoustics) will also be hosting workshops during the meeting, highlighting their products and their utility for mammalogy. The tentative schedule is now posted on the IMC-13 website (https://imc13.com/program/workshops/). Additional workshop details will be added to the website soon.

Because space will be limited, advanced registration is required to participate in workshops. Register here to participat in workshops at the IMC-13 meeting in Anchorage. Currently workshops are only available to in-person attendees. There is also a small fee for workshops occurring during the mid-meeting break.

ASM CODE OF CONDUCT

Professional conduct is expected of all participants in ASM-sponsored activities, including IMC-13, and of any individual representing the ASM. ASM is dedicated to ensuring the opportunity for active, equal participation in all ASM functions by all members, regardless of gender, race, national origin, ethnicity, age, physical appearance, disability, or sexual orientation. Discrimination and harassment are prohibited by the ASM; no individual should feel harassed, threatened, or unsafe at any ASM sponsored activity. Course of action for alleged misconduct may be found here. We note that ASM policies for professional conduct will evolve over time. All ASM members and participants in ASM-sponsored activities are expected to follow the most recent version of ASM Professional Conduct policies.
