The recipient of one of two awards from the American Society of Mammalogists’ African Graduate Student Research Fund is Christian Ranaivoson. Christian is a doctoral student at the University of Antananarivo and an intern at Institute Pasteur of Madagascar. His work is focused on the distribution and transmission of protozoan blood parasites of Madagascan fruit bats. His goal is to obtain patterns of distribution of each parasite, and to confirm transmission rates between three species of fruit bats.
